Lets set the scene, It was Christmas 2017 and one of my Instagram customers told me about a fashion show she was walking the runway on, "why don't you design for it" she said. At the time I thought me? Na..!! However after some some considerations and advice I decided "why the eck not"! It'll fun if not a great experience!!
So it’s 7.30pm I’m sat at home and my email pings! It’s the model assignment for The Beautiful You Fashion Tour. I can feel the panic set in now, it’s showtime in 18 days. My first fashion show who’d of thought it after all I started this journey selling baby bibs at car boots, I made dog clothes and sold them on EBay, l then moved my business on to making children’s clothes because I saw a gap in the market for lovely handmade dresses
knowing I love fashion I knew I’d be able to filll it if I made dresses lovelier than my competition and there’s loads In and around Penzance!
The offer to participate in the show came at Christmas and purely by accident though one of my brand reps. Through some checking, conversations and a one-one coaching session with my confidence it was decided that I would jump in to this new direction, after all opportunities like this don’t come around very often.
The Beautiful You Fashion Tour is a show put on once a year during London Fashion Week in February, it’s then moves to locations around the globe. It attracts models of all ages, shapes and sizes with the emphasis on being a celebration of body confidence as well as helping to raise awareness to independent designers like myself.
The requirements to Participate in a show comes in the style of show packages. Once paid the allotted package fee amount (I went for the smaller package £xxx )it’s time to make the outfits. I’ve got 15 to sew in total!
