How to make a Christmas tree dress display?
As always my need to stretch the imagination leads me to scour the worldwide web to search for some ideas for my table top display at market. This month being the White Christmas Fair I wanted to go all out and show my talent and versatility when being creative.
A Christmas Tree Dress, what a perfect idea!
Here's what you need..
cable ties (to hold the chicken wire in place)
foliage (this makes up the skirt section)
fabric or whatever your going to use for the bodice
First search the web to get some ideas on how you want your display to look. I make childrens clothes so the image had to be scaled down to fit my mannequin aged 4yrs.
Next visit your local garden centre for foliage (I wanted to use actual Christmas trees but they had not been delivered so went with Conifer foliage instead). The garden centre kindly allowed me to cut some foliage for FREE once i'd explained what i wanted it for, they were very supportive.
Decide how long you want your (chicken wire) skirt to be, cut and use cable ties to hold in place. Next weave the foliage through the grid sections of the wire from bottom to top to form a skirt like shape.
For the bodice I used red fabric with a fur trim which was just pinned together but looked really effective. Add bubbles, lights, bows etc to decorate.
Now stand back watch every admire your artistry!!
The finished Christmas tree dress display.
Judging took place with the Mayor and Mayoress of Truro, Cornwall. I won happily as you can see below.
